We think you’ll find our web page full of interesting background and factual information from the real experts in water, sound and the environment. If you have questions about any aspects of our project, we are readily available to answer them. You’ll also see information here on jobs and on how to take a free tour of our proposed Quarry Glade Nature Reserve (see tab Glade Nature Reserve).
Blue Rock Quarry, LLC is a Town of Osceola based business that is pursuing the reopening of a former trap rock quarry on property located between Co. Rd. F and Co. Rd MM. The property is owned by two local families; the Rochfords and Thormans (see tab Who We Are).
The same land originally was quarried by Scarlet Stone (owned by Richard Jelier and his partner Mathias Becker) beginning in 1918. (Jelier was the Village of Dresser’s first Board President.) Scarlet Stone was interested in red trap rock and when the red color ran out, the process stopped. Polk County acquired the property in 1971 on a tax claim and the land was purchased from Polk County in 1985 (for deer hunting!) Eighteen years later, in 2003, plans began to extract rock exactly from where Scarlet Stone left off. The old former quarry can be seen next to the railroad tracks along with the foundation from the company’s crusher building constructed by local, well-known contractor Arnie Kvaal.
Not just another new private Wisconsin business, Blue Rock is committed to partnering with Polk County and the Town of Osceola. Our legacy is the creation of many direct and indirect jobs and top tier annual property tax and sales tax payments.
