Truck traffic could become a concern when the numbers are exaggerated by some. However, according to Wisconsin DOT traffic counts (2200/day) on County Road F/State Street in Dresser, if all the trucks entering and leaving the proposed quarry were to all go on just this one road in Dresser, the increase would be under 5%,. Blue Rock however, has proposed regulating the truck routes leaving the quarry to level the traffic across three major routes. Based on this leveling requirement for our trucks, the increase for Co.Rd. F/State Street is expected to be no more than a 3% increase in traffic. Minimizing truck traffic impact is a stated goal of Blue Rock and can readily be accomplished by using three identified routes on village, county and state highways.
In addition, Blue Rock is fortunate to have Canadian National rail service right into to our quarry. It is planned to have the bulk of rock leaving Blue Rock via rail. This will serve to reduce the truck traffic even more than the facts shown above. Â Trains are efficient, safe and have significantly less impact on the environment.
